MAGIC ARM SUPPORT
Participated in the HackaHealth’s 2020 edition, a hackathon helping people with disabilities. I ended taking the lead of the project, where we developed a lightweight and modular arm support. The goal was to help Emma be more independent and be able to eat on her own. I was appointed team leader and presenter.
Challenge: Emma is 9 years old and, despite being in a wheelchair, she is pretty much unstoppable! Emma wanted something to facilitate her movement when she is eating or drawing.
Solution: Magic Arm is a passive arm designed to support eating without excessive help from her parents. The system was conceptualized during the HackaHealth hackathon, and further refined through the help of Emma’s ergotherapist and a motivated team of geeks who participated in the hackathon.
